First, we know the audio quality turned really bad for the last 3/4′s of the show.  We’re extremely sorry, but unfortunately we can’t fix it.  We’re pretty sure that the problem has been resolved though and won’t occur on the next show.

Since we missed a week there was quite a bit for us to discuss…

New “legends” are coming to Legends in Concert on Norwegian Epic.  Carnival is testing some new entrees in their dining rooms – that will come with a fee…

Celebrity has announced the name of their 5th Solstice Class ship, and Oceania’s Marina has completed her sea trials.

The Yachts of Seabourn is expecting their newest ship to be delivered early.

Cunard takes delivery of Queen Elizabeth and Patricia launches “Hat Watch 2010.”  Cunard also announces that they’ve ditched art auctions on Queen Elizabeth.

Customs Officials are cracking down on counterfeit goods being sold in Nassau.  A passenger pleads guilty to assaulting a girl on a Disney ship and Carnival bartender is headed to prison for abusing a girl on a ship.

Mickey Arison talks about the Panama Canal Expansion Project, a paraglider crashes onto Prinsendam and an endangered owl tries to call Oasis of The Seas home.

This week Patricia tells us why Labor Day is the perfect holiday (via old Bartles and James ads), and we also share with you some of our resources for tracking hurricanes.

In the news this week-

Crystal tells us what their holiday plans are, Queen Elizabeth will name Queen Elizabeth, and Carnival moves some ships around.

Word is also starting to trickle out about some of the things coming to Allure of The Seas including what could be a fun rivalry between Allure and her sister ship Oasis of The Seas.

In case you missed it, here are the links to the storm tracking sites we spoke about on the show-

Queen Elizabeth to Name – Queen Elizabeth

Cunard Line is pleased to announce that Her Majesty The Queen will name the company’s new Queen Elizabeth, the third Cunard ship to bear the name, at a ceremony to take place in Southampton, England on Monday, 11 October 2010.

The naming will be a milestone in British maritime history and will be a major event of worldwide interest.

“The naming of a Cunard Queen is a very special occasion and this will be an historic event in the true sense of the word,” said Peter Shanks, president of Cunard Line. “The Queen launched Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1967 and named our current flagship, Queen Mary 2, in 2004. We are both honoured and proud that Her Majesty will name our new liner, Queen Elizabeth,” added Shanks.

Her Majesty was also present at the age of 12 at the launch of the first Queen Elizabeth on 27 September 1938 when she accompanied her mother, Queen Elizabeth, to Clydebank for the launch.

The Naming Ceremony will take place in Southampton on Monday, 11 October and Queen Elizabeth will set sail on her Maiden Voyage the following day.

Other historic namings of Cunard ships by British royalty over the Line’s 170-year history include the following:

  • Her Majesty The Queen, as Princess Elizabeth, launched Caronia, the ‘Green Goddess,’ in 1947.
  • Her Majesty Queen Mary, wife of King George V, launched Queen Mary in 1934 – and in so doing became the first British Monarch ever to launch a merchant ship. His Majesty King George V accompanied his wife.
  • The late Queen Mother, as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, launched Queen Elizabeth in 1938. Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret accompanied their mother.
  • HRH The Princess Margaret launched Carinthia in 1955.
  • HRH The Duchess of Cornwall named Queen Victoria in Southampton in December 2007. HRH The Prince of Wales was also in attendance.

The Mail Buoy Episode 194

So you know those times when you have these great plans ready to put right into action – only nothing goes like you expected and instead your plans completely fall apart?

Well, that was what happened with the last few weeks…  We had a grand plan to record shows and check out some new ships – and everything fell apart.  But we’re back with a new show now and aren’t expecting any interruptions for a while…  So there’s that…

What we talked about this week:

Cruise West introduced a “free-flowing” itinerary, while Celebrity continues embracing technology.  Crystal is revising it’s 2011 West Coast plans.  Royal Caribbean is testing a “new” extended stay program in Fort Lauderdale – but is it really all that new?

Shopping on Queen Elizabeth will be decidedly British, and work continues on Seabourn Quest.  Princess looks after their Australian passengers on Dawn Princess, and once again we bring you a story of passengers behaving badly…
