I think I agree with Aunty Nin - 6 blocks an 10 piers is definitely walk-able, until you factor in luggage. I'd love to know there's a "guaranteed" transport from the Sheraton to the pier, at a set time. That way I could wander a bit in Seattle, without being totally stressed about "where is my luggage? Will I be able to find a cab? Will the cabbie speak English? If I take a cab, will I end up in some smoke-filled dive, where the driver is getting a kick-back? (OK, so that's a bit extreme - but I DON'T want to miss the boat!)

Aunty Nin:
Transport to the pier will be at your leisure, and unless I find out differently, I don't think there is a shuttle. The Sheraton is about 6 blocks and 10ish piers from the pier -- for some, not me mind you, but some, may find this walkable. I would suggest one of the many cabs. If enough of you want the night before and a transport option, I'll look into it -- trust me, transport is 1000 times easier than the hotel.

Maxine:
Ok, it is the Victoria excursion (let's not get confused that we are going to Vancouver). We are in Victoria from 2pm to 8pm (as those who were with me this past year know, delays in Victoria happen), the plan is to go to the BeeHive Wool Shop and then as you finish up feel free to wander all through the shops downtown. Should you make it to Fairmount Empress in your wanderings (I totally walked it -- it is about 7 total blocks away), go ahead. For those who don't wish to walk (or as in Aunty Nin's case are partial to having the good life with a driver and all ;) -- love you, Miss Nin.) the bus will depart from the BeeHive to take the group directly to the Empress. I will ask when we get off the bus for those who want to be "riders" to let the "walkers" move to the front of the line -- so they can get a head start. Tea is at a set time and will not begin when you arrive, so walkers, there is no rush to beat. Then there will be a set time fro EVERYONE to meet on the bus to go back to the pier. Does that help? Oh last thing -- if you on the tea tour, we will NOT be back on the ship for dinner in the dinning room. This is the last night of the cruise, so you may want to stop into the dinning room to thank the wait staff after we return and before the late seating -- we are looking to be back on the ship about 7:30pm.

I would like to know more about the Vancouver Excursion. Not necessarily the tea as I found this,

http://vancouverisland.kulshan.com/British_Columbia/Vancouver_Island/Capital_Area/Victoria/Lodging/Fairmont_Empress_Hotel.htm

But how does an excursion in general work? Can you go shopping on your own without going on an excursion? As my partner is a non knitter, and we lurve us some tea, I think we will do this one, but we will also be all about the quaint shopping.

Thanks Patricia!

Something I don't see covered here, and you know me, I gotta ask... for people who opt to stay at the Sheraton the night before the sailing, what's the best way to get to the pier? Will there be a shuttle available, or should we just gang up on some poor unsuspecting cabbie?
