Every once in a while we have a show where I just can’t come up with an intro - this week was one of those weeks.
In the news this week NCL announced the upgrades Norwegian Spirit will be getting during her upcoming refit.
As fuel prices continue fall, yet another line has announced that they are dropping their fuel surcharges, this week it’s Oceania and Regent Seven Seas.
Some of Celebrity’s new ships are getting new shows.
Ruby Princess was named and Princess also announced that they will be bring Movies Under the Stars to almost every ship in the fleet over the next two years.
Holland America is bringing new Signature of Excellence improvements to select ships.
Carnival Dream has been floated out of the fitting out key and is one step closer to completion, and QE2 isn’t the only Queen that will be leaving service this year. With no buyer in sight, the queens of Majestic America’s fleet will be ending operations in just a few weeks.

Just a quick news show this week. After the long show we did last week we decided to put a quick show out this week.
This past few weeks we’ve had the final Oasis of The Seas reveal, and some itinerary shifts from Carnival. NCL has joined the crowd dropping fuel supplements, and Ambassador’s International says that they haven’t had a serious buyer for Majestic America Line.
MSC is looking for a long term agreement with Port Everglades and Celebrity Solstice arrived in Port Evergaldes this morning.

No pithy opening this week, we just go right off into the news.
Crystal is offering a collection of savings and perks on their 2009 World Cruise.
Louis completed the purchase of Norwegian Majesty, and we found out that the future of Majestic America Line.
Carnival Fantasy has been turning around in Mobile due to the troubles in New Orleans on the Mississippi River.
We also got news about Oceania’s newest ship Marina, as construction began.
This week we take a look at an up and coming Mexican land destination, and our Deal of The Week as actually a land package.

<Updated>There’s been a few reports swirling about the interwebs regarding the future of Majestic America - with at least one site declaring that the line won’t be sailing at all next year.
What we do know is this-
- Itineraries for 2009 still have not been announced.
- The parent company for Majestic America, Ambassadors International, announced plans to sell the line back over the spring.
- There’s no information either way on Majestic America’s website.
We’ve asked the line for more a confirmation either way and all they have done is direct us to two statements that the line had been put up for sale.
Update- Ambassador’s International has followed up with us and has now confirmed that due to the planned sale of Majestic America that the line will not be operating cruises after the 2008 season.

Folks appear to be returning from their summer vacations as this week we had some actual cruise news to discuss!
First up was a small piece from Royal Caribbean’s earning call, what caught our attention was the announcements of layoffs and spending cuts intended to save the company as much as $125 million a year.
Seabourn announces the godparent for Seabourn Odyssey although godparents would be more accurate.
The NTSB released their final report in the investigation of the Empress of The North grounding last year in Alaska.
Holland America announces early advantage fares on all 2009 sailings and folks in Ketchikan want visiting ships to stay longer.
