Hey Guys, I have a comment about the tip of the week. I think one of the biggest misconceptions people have is that if you book your airfare through the cruise line and if you’re late and miss the boat, it’s somehow their responsibility to get you to the next port of call. This is not the case. As an example I got the following from the FAQ on the RCCL website:
Q: What if my flight is delayed?
A: If you miss the departure of your trip due to carrier-caused delays or other covered reasons, CruiseCare® Travel Insurance reimburses you for additional accommodations, meals and “catch-up” transportation expenses. Otherwise, you are responsible for any expense incurred to meet the ship at its next port of call. For this reason, many guests find it is easiest to arrive a day prior to sailing and stay in a hotel the night before to avoid any possible delays.
So I guess this supports what you always say: Get insurance and get in the night before.
