Majestic America Line, the largest river and coastal cruising company in America, is proud to pay tribute to the Delta Queen by celebrating this historic landmark during her 2008 season with guests and the communities that hold her storied tradition of sailing the waterways of the United States so dear.
A beloved fixture of America’s rivers, 176-guest Delta Queen is a registered historic treasure of the Department of the Interior and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She is also a National Historic Landmark and a member of the National Maritime Hall of Fame. Efforts continue to extend the Congressional exemption allowing Delta Queen to continue to operate cruise voyages on the river past October 31, 2008.
Majestic America Line has been hard at work through lobbyists, Congressional visits, grass roots efforts and other activities to extend the Congressional exemption.
Tributes to communities that the Delta Queen visits will be conducted on special dates during selected sailings of the season and feature a presentation to each city, medley of river music by the Delta Queen Band and remarks by Delta Queen’s Captain from the bow of the boat. A calliope concert will follow as Delta Queen departs.
