So to make up for not having a show last week we’re doing two shows this week
Although to mix it up a bit we’re not talking about cruises, but rather airlines. In particular we talk about our recent flight on start-up Virgin America. Taking the same strategy as JetBlue and positioning themselves as a low cost but not low frills. Now, despite the Virgin branding, Virgin America is not a US version of Virgin Atlantic. The airlines are separate entities and Virgin Atlantic’s owner, Sir Richard Branson, is a very minority investor in Virgin America.
Overall, the experience wasn’t bad. But this is still a relatively new airline and there are still a few kinks that need working out, not the least of which with their entertainment system that they call “Red.”
That being said, if you’re flying somewhere served by Virgin America you should consider them.
The Deal of The Week is still on hiatus, but we expect it to be back next week.

Everything is bigger in Texas and the next biggest thing in the Lone Star State is Royal Caribbean International’s Voyager of the Seas. The largest cruise ship ever to be based in the Gulf Coast and to sail from the Port of Galveston, Voyager will sail seven-night itineraries visiting the Caribbean, South America and Mexico calling on Cozumel, Costa Maya and Yucatan, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and George Town, Grand Cayman through April 2008.
At a ceremony held onboard Voyager of the Seas yesterday, special guests, including local dignitaries, travel agents and media gathered to celebrate the arrival of the ship which was adorned with gigantic longhorns, 140 feet long and weighing 600 pounds. Following the ceremony, Royal Caribbean kicked off a week-long charity auction on eBay (www.ebay.com/longhorns) with proceeds benefiting the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation (www.starlight.org), which helps seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. The highest bidder will win the longhorns and a seven-night cruise for two.

Hey look a new show!
It had always been our intention to record a show last week. Unfortunately we were hit by an illness just hours before our normal recording time, and things didn’t get back to normal until almost mid-week.
To make up for missing last week - we offer you two shows this week. As the new year started the was quite a bit of news in the cruise industry and we thought there was too much to just do one show. Even so there were several stories that we posted on the site that didn’t make it in to the show.
Some of the stories we talked about this week -
New check in policies coming - Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Azamara and NCL have announced their changes, other lines to announce changes over the next month. Bottom line- by February 19 all cruise lines will require you to be checked in for your cruise at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
Carnival has announced new minimum ages and has revised their policy regarding pregnant passengers.
Crystal is tighten their smoking rules, and Disney is introducing a new show on Disney Wonder.
Royal Caribbean has a new show coming to Explorer of The Seas, and they will have trans-fats removed from their ships over the course of the next few weeks. They’ve also renewed their operating agreement with the Port of Galveston.
Also SeaSocks folks should start watching their mailboxes for their invoices - they should be arriving later this week.
No Deal of The Week this week, but we expect that it will be back for next week.
