The Mail Buoy Episode 84

Posted by Michael on 11/04/07

This week was another slow news week, with the few stories this week revolving around Hurricane Noel or things that we have discussed weeks ago.

We’re also getting ready to head off on yet another sailing.  In a little over a week we’ll be onboard Carnival Freedom on her inaugural US sailing.  While we plan on taking lots of pictures and also doing a review of the ship, we also plan on meeting a few senior executives with Carnival, and expect to have at least one of them on the show.  With that in mind, do YOU have any questions for the folks at Carnival?  Get them to us by the end of the week and we’ll do what we can to get them answered.

We’re also going to sit down with our insider at Carnival and propose a feature where she answer your questions about Carnival.  This probably wouldn’t be an audio event, but if you have questions about the line that you would like to ask, let us know.  We need to determine if there is interest in our pursuing this.

We actually did have a show, and this week we did a little mythbusting.  This week we tackle some of the more common cruising myths that we hear.  We talk about some of the myths surrounding pricing, alcohol and even about the ships themselves.

    Hey Guys!

My email with Carnvial questions got bounced and the notication ended up junk email so I only realized it today! Oh well, hope the cruise is great and if you happen to see this drop me an email and I’ll send my questions along.

  2. Rob Says:

    Hey Guys

I know it’s a long shot, but my questions are below. I’m not sure why my email didn’t go through, have a feeling it’s an email filter blocking it somewhere along the line:

Many of Carnival’s sister lines are offering open seating dining for dinner in varying degrees. Has there been any thoughts on testing the concept on Carnival, perhaps having one dining rooms open seating and the other traditional, somewhat like they do on Princess?

Kudo’s on the “evolutions of fun” on the Fantasy Class ships. The team that came up with the upgrades was simply brilliant. How long before all 8 ships are upgraded? Any plans for spray parks and private adult serenity decks on the other classes of ships?

As for the upcoming Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic: We want details! Another cruise line (who’s name we will not mention) packed a lot of new toys onboard when their ships got that big, please say you have something special in store for us!

I like how you’ve opened up new ports of call, for example I really enjoyed Grand Turk on my last cruise. So what’s the next place on the list?

Half Moon Cay is great! So when is Carnival finally going to get an island of their own?

Any plans on returning to Baltimore? We miss you here!

How long do the shows run? I think I may have seen “dream voyage” one too many times!

So, who is this “upgrade fairy” and what’s the logic behind her decisions?

Promise me right now you’ll never paint another workout room “pepto pink”

I really like the “exotic” itineraries. Belize and Roatan are great! Any chance for a really, really exotic itinerary, say Belize, Roatan, Panama and Costa Rica? St Thomas and Cozumel are great, but I’d be willing to skip them just this once.

I’m a Canadian living in the States and I have an issue when it comes to immigration. When an itinerary leaves the US (say to the Bahamas) and then comes back into a US Territory (say St Thomas) we all have to drag ourselves to be “inspected” at some absurdly early hour in the morning. Why not tweak the schedules so that isn’t necessary until the very end of the trip?

Any chance you’ll be going back to St Croix any time soon? Years ago I was on Triumph and we did San Juan, St Thomas and St Croix. No immigration the whole cruise! That was great!

Why as a non-us citizen do I sometimes have to surrender my passport? Don’t you trust me to show up with it?

And Finally, where can I get a copy of comedian Tia Thompson’s “Pussy Cat” song? Actually, have you thought of doing a “best of” cd of the songs from the comedy acts?
