NBC6 in Miami FL is reporting that Liberty of the Seas returned to port on Saturday with an estimated 200 of its 3,846 passengers stricken with Norovirus. In addition 12 crew members became ill.
While Norovirus outbreaks have sadly become common lately, they are still preventable. The easiest way to prevent being stricken with Norovirus is to just wash your hands after using the restroom and before you dine onboard.
We discuss Norovirus and other cruise ship risks as part of Episode 3 of The Mail Buoy, it’s worth a listen if you get a chance.

I was on the Liberty of the Seas for last week’s voyage (sailing 6/2-9) and we had outbreaks of the norovirus during this cruise too. Despite the sanitization of the ship and a lot of hard work by the ship staff and crew it is my understanding that 1.35% of the apx. 4990 passengers on voyage #3 became ill.
If you would like more details I would be happy to provide them to you.
