Crystal Symphony to Get $23 Million Upgrade

Cruise Community is reporting that Crystal Cruise Lines Crystal Symphony will head to BAE Shipyard in Norfolk VA for a $23 million dry dock this fall.

For two weeks from October 31 to Nov 5, a team of 1,300 people will be at work onboard around the clock.  Some of the projects include a complete redesign of all staterooms as well as changes to spaces on the Tiffany Deck.  The work is intended to build upon the ship’s 2004 drydock which featured renovated penthouses and a Feng Shui inspired spa.  In total Crysal will have invested approximately $35 million on upgrades onboard the Crystal Symphony over the last 3 years.

The ship’s staterooms will be redesigned to resemble rooms in a boutique hotel, including Murano glass bedside lamps, Rubelli fabrics, leather headboards, LED reading lights and 20 inch LCD flat screen televisions.  In the bathrooms oval glass sinks will sit on granite countertops.

The Tiffany Deck will get new color schemes and lighting.  The Starlight Club will be opened up with a round bar and Swarovski crystal details.  The Crystal Casino will get a new color scheme and games, and the new nightclub will have polished aluminum Phillipe Starck bar stools and glass bizzaro mosaics.

The boutiques will also be redesigned, Facets will added a private space for customers to make high end jewelry purchases, while the Bistro Cafe will get new decorative tiles, wall furnishings and upholstery.  The Computer University@Sea gets new equipment and wireless access.

PROGRESS!!!!!!

If you haven’t been over into the iTunes music store today, then you probably haven’t seen it yet.  It appears that I’ve finally gotten ALL of our shows listed! :D :D :D :D   And there was much rejoicing at Mail Buoy Broadcast House… That’s right, episodes 1 through 8 are all up in iTunes after much teeth nashing, hair pulling, head bashing, and 4 letter words being muttered!

If you’re not seeing all 8 episodes of the show in your iTunes subscription, you probably needed to delete your subscription to the show and re-subscribe.

….  Now to just get the album art working…;)

Disney Cruise Line Bringing New Amenities to All Staterooms
Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line guests soon will be able to absorb the enriching benefits of the ocean while sailing on the high seas. Beginning in October, the cruise line is introducing H2O Plus Spa bath and shower products to all 877 guest accommodations on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. These high-end products, derived from marine botanicals, bring a piece of the ocean into every stateroom.

The high-quality, water-based H2O Plus products being stocked on the Disney Cruise Line ships include Sea Marine Revitalizing Shampoo, Marine Collagen Conditioner and Hydrating Body Butter from the H2O Plus premium Spa line — all in uniquely designed, co-branded bottles. Guests staying in concierge-level suites will find additional H20 Plus offerings such as Sea Salt Body Wash and Solar Relief Gel.

The upgrade of every family-friendly stateroom onboard both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder also features new Sealy Posturepedic Premium Plush Euro-top mattresses, new pillows and Frette 300 thread-count, 100 percent Egyptian cotton linens. In addition, larger, more luxurious bath towels and bath sheets have been added to all stateroom bathrooms.

In all concierge-level suites, there are comfortable duvets and a new “Pillow Talk” program which allows concierge guests to choose from a selection of hypo-allergenic, feather and therapeutic memory foam pillow options.

Sea-derived skincare innovator H2O Plus, L.P. has been making a splash in the specialty global retail market with an array of skincare, spa, bath and shower and color cosmetics products for the last 16 years. The company’s entrepreneurial founder and creative director, Cindy Melk, has grown H2O Plus from a concept of water-based, sea-derived formulations to an internationally recognized branded company.

A leader in the family cruise segment, Disney Cruise Line offers three-, four- and seven-night itineraries to the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Land/sea vacation packages that include a stay at the Walt Disney World Resort also are available. This fall, the Disney Wonder will sail two first-ever 10- and 11-night itineraries to the Southern Caribbean. In the summer of 2007, for the first time, Disney Cruise Line will reposition the Disney Magic to the Port of Barcelona and offer alternating 10-night and 11-night Mediterranean cruise vacations to Europe.

Tropical Storm Ernesto Update 3

Norwegian Spirit’s arrival into Port Canaveral was delayed for two hours.  At this time we don’t know if this was related to storm preparations or not.

The revised schedule has the ship departing Port Canaveral at 9pm, arriving in Nassau at 3pm Wednesday and departing at noon on Thursday.  Friday the ship will be at sea, returning to New York on Saturday at 10am.

Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale is currently closed to all inbound and outbound traffic.  All cargo operations have also ceased with the exception of petroleum operations.

The Port of Miami is closed, Port Canaveral remains open (I know, that makes sense since Norwegian Spirit arrived earlier today) however all commercial and recreational vessels are required to depart the by 10:30PM Eastern.

The Port of Jacksonville is still open, but should be closed by 6pm Wednesday.

Finally, there is a possiblity that the Cruise Planners site may go down. The server it’s housed on is in Miami, now the hosting facility is supposed to be rated to withstand a Category 5 storm, but you never know…
