Reuters is reporting that former Celebrity Cruises captain Periklis Petridis who was arrested for operating a ship while under the influence of alcohol onboard his ship in Seattle on May 19th has plead guilty.
Mr. Petridis was arrested onboard Celebrity’s Mercury just hours before the ship’s scheduled departure. US Coast Guard tests showed that Mr. Petridis had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.181 which is 4 times the legal limit.
The guilty plea was entered as part of a plea agreement in which Mr Petridis received one year’s probation, a $15,000 fine, and is also banned from entering US waters as an employee of any commercial vessel.
