Regardless of what you may think about your fellow passengers talking on their cell phone to their friends about that cute guy by the pool who was so checking them out… Cell phone service on cruise ships is coming to a cruise line near you.
NCL has announced that cellular service is now available onboard every ship in the NCL, NCL America, and Orient Lines fleet. While the new service supports all the major US cellular carriers, the features that will be available to you (like text messaging or web browsing) will depend on your carrier. Also keep in mind that your phone will be roaming, and you’ll need to check with your carrier to determine what the roaming charges will be.
For more information, check out this flyer on NCL’s system, and this one on Orient’s system. You’ll need Adobe Reader or some other program capable or opening PDF documents to open these files.
