We first posted this story on May 20 and we’re continuing to follow the story about the Celebrity Cruises Captain who was arrested onboard his ship for being intoxicated a few hours before scheduled departure. Shortly after his arrest onboard Celebrity’s Mercury, Periklis Petridis was fired by the cruise line and the ship’s departure was delayed while it waited for a replacement captain to report aboard.
The Seattle Times is reporting that he appeared in Federal Court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to the charges. Mr. Petridis’ attorney is seeking to have the charges dropped claiming that her client was not drinking on duty and that the breathalizer used was faulty.
Mr. Petridis is currently staying in a Seattle hotel while out on $100,000 bail, his next court appearance is scheduled for June 6.
