
Two coins were soldered inside the keel for MSC Cruises newest liner the MSC Orchestra on January 30. The ceremony, held at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard where the the Orchestra is currently under construction is a traditional ceremony intended to bring the ship under construction good luck.
On hand for the event were executives from MSC Cruises, Chantiers de l’Antique, the classification society Bureau Veritas, as well as travel agencies and journalists.
The MSC Orchestra is scheduled to be floated out of it’s dry dock in September with sea trials and delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2007. The Orchestra is the sixth ship built by Chantiers for MSC, the MSC Musica is expected to be delivered in June, and plans are underway for the construction of two more ships for MSC, the MSC Fantasia and MSC Serenata are the next two ships scheduled for construction.
