After being delayed in Fort Lauderdale, Cunard Cruise Lines has announced that the Queen Mary 2 is once again underway, it is currently enroute to Rio De Janeiro Brazil.
The Queen Mary 2 returned to Fort Lauderdale a few hours after it’s scheduled departure when a bridge indicator signaled problems with one of the ships four propulsion pods. Based on media reports, it’s believed that the ship struck a sea wall while transiting the channel to exit Port Everglades damaging the propulsion unit.
As a result of the delay, the QM2 was forced to cancel it’s port calls in St Kitts, Barbados, and Salvador and to shorten it’s port call in Rio De Janeiro.
After departing Rio De Janeiro, Cunard expects that the ship will be able to visit the remaining published ports on QM2’s current itinerary, however the visits to Montevideo and Acapulco will also be shortened.
