Reminder – Changes to US Passport Requirements

The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 will require all travelers including US Citizens to and from the United States and the Americas or Bermuda to present a valid passport in order to enter the United States by January 2008 as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

The program is being implemented in phases in order to allow travellers sufficient time to comply with the new requirements.

Beginning December 31,2006 all travelers arriving in the United States via air or sea from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to posses a valid passport.

Beginning December 31, 2007 the requirement will extend also to all travelers entering the US via land crossings as well.
