NTSB Issues Report on Norwegan Dawn Incident
You may recall some stories back in April of last year when NCL's Norwegan Dawn was struck by a rogue wave estimated to be 70 feet high while enroute from Miami to New York. The Captain chose to make an emergency port call in Charleston SC after the wave struck and damaged several balcony rails, shattered windows, and flooded several cabins. Several passengers also reported minor injuries. However, according to the NTSB report the crew of the Norwegan Dawn had properly prepared for heavy weather and also worked to meet their passengers needs and make them comfortable. It's important to note that while the incident did damage the ship and cause some minor injures, the cruise line, the US Coast Guard, and the NTSB all state that at no time was the safety of the ship compormised.
