The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 will require all travelers including US Citizens to and from the United States and the Americas or Bermuda to present a valid passport in order to enter the United States by January 2008 as part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.
The program is being implemented in phases in order to allow travellers sufficient time to comply with the new requirements.
Beginning December 31,2006 all travelers arriving in the United States via air or sea from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to posses a valid passport.
Beginning December 31, 2007 the requirement will extend also to all travelers entering the US via land crossings as well.

Celebrity Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean International have introduced a new program that allows their passengers to check their luggage, and also to check in for their flight home, before they disembark from the ship! It’s expected that this new service will save passengers anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours of airport wait time.
Working with the US Customs and Border Patrol, Transportation Security Administration, seaport, airline, and airport security personel the lines are rolling out the new service at ports around the United States and even Canada.
